Resume

Technical Lead, Zilliant Incorporated

Austin, Texas | June 2015 – Present

At Zilliant, I’ve served in several roles on several different initiatives. I started as a scrum master in late 2013, leading the team developing an internal pricing engine as designed by our science team. Since them, I’ve been leading teams that have developed our new-era data warehousing solution using Amazon Web Services’ Redshift technology, machine learning solutions using Scikit-Learn, and revamping our data input strategy with Apache Spark. While I do not do as much coding any more, I spend most of my time designing solutions with our architecture team, preparing requirements, and ensuring the development and QA team is able to perform with minimum interruption.

Technologies used:

  • Amazon Redshift
  • Amazon EMR / Apache Spark
  • Amazon Elastic Container Service / Docker
  • Amazon SWF
  • Amazon S3
  • Microsoft SQL Server
  • Tomcat
  • Perforce
  • Java

Systems Developer, BNSF Railway Company

Fort Worth, Texas | June 2013 – June 2015

At BNSF, I was initially hired into the Management Trainee program, which was a pipeline from college to management at the railroad. This was a fairly common track for software hires at the company coming out of college. During my two years there, I worked on the Trackside Detector team, which took readings from trackside detectors to identify maintenance issues on rail cars. Some of the technologies I worked with included WebSphere Application Server, WebSphere Message Broker, IBM DB2, microservices, and IBM’s Intelligent Operations Center (IOC).

On-Site Support, Texas Tech University Information Technology Division

Lubbock, Texas | February 2012 – June 2013

While at Texas Tech, I worked for IT Help Central’s Desktop Support division. I had two roles at Desktop Support – as a shop technician and as on-site support. The responsibilities of the shop technician included addressing tickets sent in from staff and faculty at select departments at the university, responding to them, and resolving their issues in a professional manner. Frequent activities included desktop backup, re-image, and return, hardware fault identification, and appropriate configuration within the policies established by the IT Division.

As On-Site Support, which lasted from June 2012 – June 2013, I served as the on-site lead for the IT Division at the Department of Health, Exercise, and Sport Sciences (HESS), now the Department of Kinesiology & Sport Management. The duties for this role were end-to-end, including classroom and lab technology management, hardware purchasing and setup, and day-to-day operations of faculty laptops and desktops.
